it's all in the book

i had an early night last night, didn't even read my book before bed! lol, bad me ;-)

and i skipped ahead in my book club book. it's not a bad read, i wouldn't have chosen it myself, but that seems to be the pattern with our book club books for me. they seem to want to read books with meaning. i'm more the 'fluff and whatever' style, lol! but this book, the beginning was slower than i wanted, so i skipped forward about 10 yrs in her life. then it became much more interesting. i guess i'll have to go back and read the interim years. just to catch up to where i left off.

i think it's one of those books that is supposed to make me feel that somehow my childhood was so much more normal that i expected it was. and of course the author's was so extraordinary. i don't feel bad for her. she obviously made it out in one somewhat identifiable piece. and her siblings survived at least their initial leaving of the parental nest. and her parents at least didn't forbid her to follow her dreams as some parents do.
