but now apparently i need prompts to write blog posts. i have NO ideas anymore. and tonight i found this site. pretty cool, blog prompts submitted by other bloggers.
very good idea.
the first one, that i have now found the link to, that caught my eye is this --
suggested by Blogletting.com"My neighbor has a bumper sticker that reads: "Remember Who You Wanted To Be". Did you grow up to be who you always wanted to be as a child?"
that question always stumps me. i had so many grand ideas when i was a child. what i would do. where i would live.
i don't think any of them had to do with living the life i have now. they didn't include being married or having five kids or being as extraordinarily happy as i am living here in my little house with my crazy kids and my silly hubby.
or driving a van that we squeeze into in order to get to the beach house where we laugh watching the little mermaid on dvd or eating jiffy pop popcorn while sitting on the counters in a pirate themed beach house.
or sitting on the sofa watching doctor who surrounded by little boys extolling the virtues of sonic screwdrivers and wondering how daleks hover or if the time vortex dust can really be seen with 3D glasses (and can we check to be sure please mom).
or the bit where smallest child runs up to me after preschool this morning and hugs me leg, looks up at me and says in the sweetest ever voice, "mommie i missed you SO much today"!
no one thinks they will push out 5 babies in varying sizes with (or without medication). or bury their mom when she's only met 2 of those babies. or pray for her best friend every single day and every single night (and so we can go on that BIG "all clear" tour next summer).
i thought i would be a writer of books. a journalist. an archeologist. i thought i would be a nurse. i thought i would read books late into the night. and watch great movies and go shopping with my mom.
i have done all those things. maybe not as i imagined. i dig in the sand with my kids. i nurse my kids thru boo boos and wheezes and i wash laundry at 3am cos someone was sick. i rock babies and toddlers in the wee hours. i nursed them. i bottle fed them. i love them all.
and everytime i see a woman my age shopping with her mother, i sigh cos i wish it was me with my mom. but i have my girl and we shop. and i buy her more than i ever would have before cos my mom would have.
and once in a while i am very mellow and write nonsensical blog posts :-)

i loved reading this today! :-)
ReplyDeletethanks san....i'm rereading it again today and see that i miswrote a few things (the shopping with my girl part sounds a bit unkind toward the boys, which of course i have never been)
ReplyDeleteOMG! that was such an awesome post! It was like reading poetry - you know the serious kind of poetry and not the rhyming kind. I am sure there is a word for it. But gosh - your post really touched my heart. Oh - and do you know what else you have grown up and become? You became my friend and that is pretty darn special!
ReplyDeleteaww thanks so much ladyt, you made me blush and feel all warm and happy! :)
ReplyDeleteThat was a great post
