what a week!!

well, here it is our last evening here at the beach in NC. despite some rainy damp and cloudy weather, we did have a good week. a few more sunny days would have been nice too though. but today was fabulous, sunny and hot with clear skies! today we did the beach, the pool and we went crabbing after dinner.

the crabbing is actually fun. we head to the bay by the lighthouse, and so does everyone else to crab or watch the sunset. the kids line up with their lines and chicken necks (yuck) and dip the lines in the water. eventually a crab bites, we pull it in gently, net it, ooh and ahh over it. and then we flip the net inside out and the crab goes back into the bay. they are SMALL crabs. with any luck, no on falls into the bay and no one gets hurt!

princess calls them 'snap snaps'....she's funny! she squeals each time and then yells 'snap snap'! she did on the beach this morning, and those were the tiny little ghost crabs.

so this year, we stayed in a great rental house, just four houses from the beach entrance. and the house's space is HUGE. you know we all need space with all these kids! :)

i'm disappointed that our week has to end though. as i see it, this is our last week of summer. so it's always rather bittersweet. this last night, the last walk on the beach, the last dip in the pool and so on.

so it's back to school next week, and me getting into the new routine with five kids in school. a first for me!! i'm trying not to over think the whole thing. and take it one day and one event at a time!! i've got my planner, i've got some new pens, and i've got my cell phone with all the school numbers inside.

i think tomorrow i'm gonna list my short listed goals...blah and boring stuff there :)
