friday flashies

no time to blog last night. a late night due to my book club.it was a nice evening though, only five of us there. and as usual, the first two hours are chatting, snacking and drinking followed by 20 mins (or less) of book, and then more chatting about whatever topic we diverted to and then home.
i think we are finally reading the shack for january! we were meant to read it last month but were hijacked by someone who apparently thought it was "hokey". she suggested our last read the glass castle. and what was amusing? she wasn't even there last night!!!
i've already started and put down the shack though. i'm going to finish cross bones and then see i can pick up the shack.
we woke up to snow this morning. the kids and i were surprised. then i remembered they said we might get an inch. not a lot really, but our first snow of the season really (though it did flurry yesterday). it was pretty messy this morning. the school buses were late. the snow was wet and it was cold outside waiting.
in the end, i think we got about an inch and a half. it's all melted off the streets but still left on the grass. it's warm enough to continue melting.
oddly enough, last saturday was warm enough for some people to wear shorts. and for me to wear a short sleeved shirt and drink an iced coffee when i went shopping.
and i can't find my new-ish snow boots. not super new, but bought in the last 2 yrs. i am wearing my old fluffy moon boots from high school. let's not mention how old that makes them! ;-)
