the class trip was a lot more fun that i expected. sure it was HOT and sure it was dirty and dusty. sure there were bugs all over (our second guide got stung by a bee). but hanging out with a class of 8 year olds made me smile.the things they come out with. "what do you think that is", the guide gestures to a black horn** looking item on the wall of the kitchen, boy with all the answers reply "a griffin's talon". of course, i'm the only one who KNEW what a griffin was/is ;-) **it WAS merely a horn to call the children into the house.**
some fun colonial time rules/facts : kids do chores from age two!! kids sit ON the floor and not on the furniture. last person up empties all the chamber pots.....
it's a pretty cool place to visit, we made candles (they're green and made from tallow and bee's wax and they smell delish), pulled water from the well, sawed some wood and had a tour of the three sections of the family house. we saw the smelly animals and debated the niceties of indoor plumbing ;-)

Dear elena jane. Chores from the age of two?! What kind of chores can a two year old do? I want to remember for when I have kids ;)
