what do you do when....

your daughter and youngest son pull half of the thomas the tank engine audio cassette tape out of its casing...while you are helping oldest son edit his writing assignment...
your darling daughter starts to cry so you go to help her...finding the aforementioned tape on the floor and her hands....while you say you will fix it (for the umpteenth time hoping it still works since it's about 10 yrs old and travelled the world)...
you go to oldest son's room for a pen to use to spin the center of the cassette tape (remember them?)....and you have to step back over the game boxes to reach the pile of pens and pencils in oldest son's room....
you choose the pen since that usually works....only this one is too big....
so you step back over the game boxes holding the yards of dragging cassette tape high....so you won't step on it....
and you reach over the bed....and you say "FAN" very loudly hoping oldest son will realise the scenario you see playing out in front of your eyes....
and you lift the tape higher with one hand....while still holding the pen in the other hand....while trying not to fall over the the bed and the piles of game boxes....
and the tape is sucked into the fan blades....and you say "STOP THE FAN" louder....and oldest son gets it now...turns off the fan....
but the tape is wound around the fan blade....AND the motor....
and you now realise the tape is probably toast....but you will try to take off the back of the fan now that it is unplugged....
you send oldest son for the fancy screwdriver set....but they don't fit....or turn...
so you wait for hubby to come home...first sharing the above story....
while he takes off the back of the fan....and cleans the dust off the small fan....
but first he gets the ultra fancy screw driver set...with the flat head phillips
and he works very diligently....unwinds the tape....
put the fan back together...and then you are stuck rewinding the tape again...
only you realise that the tape is out of the container one side....so you will have to take the whole tape casing apart to fix it....
and this time you will do it away from moving objects!! :-)
